  • Urinary: Used to help cleanse/detoxify kidneys.
  • Nervous: Thought to work as an adaptogen for stress and anxiety.

  • Male/Female Reproductive:  Thought to increase circulation to your pelvis.  It's used as a reproductive tonic for men and women.  Commonly used for menstrual pain. 

Common doses and preparation: Taken as a tincture, decoction,  tea, flavoring for food, drinks, and on your skin.  Root and powder are added to many recipes as a spice. Powder can be sprinkled onto any recipe, syrup, and liquid. Poultices, baths, and foot soaks are used for muscular pain.

Side Effects/Precautions/Interactions: may increase your blood pressure if taken in high doses. Caution with people taking medicine for diabetes and blood thinners.  Not recommended if you are pregnant.
