Nutrients/Active Ingredients:  High in iron, magnesium, potassium, Sulphur.  Contains vitamins A,D, and B complex.  saponins, polysaccharides, mucilage, flavonoids, tannins

Uses by system and symptom:

  • Digestive/Gastrointestinal: Used for diarrhea and colic.
  • Integumentary/Skin:  Applied to your skin for cellulitis (skin infection), burns, wounds, hemorrhoids, bruises, and frostbite.  Can be used to soften skin. 
  • Skeletal: Gout, swollen, and painful joints.  
  • Respiratory: Used as an expectorant for coughs, whooping cough, bronchitis, pneumonia, sore throat, colds, flu, sore throat, allergies, and allergies.
  • Urinary: Used as a diuretic.
  • Nervous:  Has been used for migraines, insomnia, and as a sedative. Has been used for ear infections (otitis media) and pain.
  • Immune: Thought to have antiviral and antibiotic qualities.

Common doses and preparation:  Used as tea, tincture, oil, and creams.
