Nutrients/Active Ingredients: salicylates, source of thiamin, low in Sodium, and very low in Cholesterol. Contains Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopherol), A, C, K, thiamin (B1),  riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), magnesium, zinc, copper, dietary fiber, and folate (B9). Calcium, Iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, and Manganese.

  • Cardiovascular: Used to lower cholesterol level, edema, heart failure.
  • Digestive/Gastrointestinal:  Use as an appetite stimulant, for bad breath, indigestion colic, diarrhea, gas, and gastritis.  
  • Endocrine: Thought to stimulate the thymus (immune system) and for diabetes.
  • Integumentary/Skin:  Used for fungal infections like athletes foot. Used for acne, scars, wounds, rashes.
  • Skeletal: Used to try to prevent tooth decay.
  • Muscular: used as a muscle rub.
  • Respiratory: Used for coughs for colds, bronchitis, respiratory infections. Used to help with discomfort from tonsillitis and laryngitis.
  • Urinary:  Has been used to treat bedwetting and as a diuretic.
  • Nervous: Used for ear infection.
  • Immune: Used as an antiseptic, antifungal,  anti-inflammatory antibacterial, and for fever.
  • Male/Female Reproductive: Used to help with menstrual cramps.
  • Other: Has been used for lice and crabs. 

Common doses and preparation: Used as a culinary herb for meat, stew, soup, French cuisine and spaghetti sauce  Thyme tastes a little like mint, earthy, sweet, peppery, with a touch of floral taste. Used in tea,  mouthwash, skin.

Side Effects/Precautions/Interactions:  medicinal doses not recommended for pregnancy, lactation, kidney disease.
